EKU two-way star Maddi Rutan to enter transfer portal
Maddi Rutan, one of the best two-way players the past two seasons, announced she’ll enter the transfer portal when it opens Sunday, May 18. Rutan wrote this on social media:
“With a lot of praying about this decision, I have decided to enter the transfer portal with two years of eligibility left. Thank you EKU for an amazing two years and all the memories.”
Rutan was the 2024 ASUN Freshman and Pitcher of the Year. Over the last two seasons, she has a career record of 43-15 with two saves and a 2.50 ERA. The Indiana native took a big step forward as a hitter this season, leading Eastern Kentucky in multiple categories. Rutan hit .413 with nine doubles, three triples, 13 home runs and 61 RBIs. She’ll have two years of eligibility remaining.
