We’ll have to wait until Sunday to see the much anticipated NiJaree Canady and Ruby Meylan matchup if we get it. No. 16 Texas Tech swept the Friday doubleheader against No. 13 Oklahoma State, not allowing a run to the Cowgirls. The Red Raiders aim for the series sweep at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Game One: Texas Tech 9, Oklahoma State 0

It was all Red Raiders in their 9-0 run-rule win to open the doubleheader. NiJaree Canady cruised to a victory throwing four scoreless innings, allowing three hits against the Cowgirls. Oklahoma State did collect three hits in the third inning. It looked as if Rosie Davis was going to drive in a run with her single, but Logan Halleman cut down Megan Delgadillo at third base before the run scored and it was just that kind of game for Oklahoma State.

Kenny Gajewski gave the ball to Katie Kutz against Canady, and the surging sophomore struggled out the gate. Texas Tech collected hit after hit, continuing to find grass in the first inning. The Red Raiders benefitted from a pair of fielder’s choices that failed to record an out as well.

Texas Tech continued to roll against Kyra Aycock. Raegan Jennings, who had two hits and a pair of RBIs, doubled in the seventh and Bailey Lindemuth proceeded to homer to end the game.

Game Two: Texas Tech 2, Oklahoma State 0

Texas Tech kept the bats hot out of the gate in its 2-0 win in the nightcap. Lauren Allred hit an opposite field double that Rachael Hathoot couldn’t handle cleanly, allowing Hailey Toney to score from first. Alexa Langeliers singled in Allred.

Ruby Meylan settled in after the first inning. The Red Raiders threatened a few times, but ultimately never scored again against the Oklahoma State ace. Meylan tossed six innings, striking out seven batters and allowing six hits.

Oklahoma State could not wake up the bats. Chloe Riassetto gave Texas Tech a quality start. She went four scoreless innings, allowing two hits. After Tia Warsop reached on an error to open the fifth, Riassetto gave way to Canady.

Canady immediately erased Warsop after Audre Schneidmiller lined a ball right at Jennings for a double play. Canady allowed one hit in three innings with four Ks including striking out the side in the seventh.
