On Wednesday, Alabama men’s basketball coach Nate Oats mentioned during an appearance on The Basketball Podcast that the team will be taking a foreign tour this summer. Then on Friday morning, the official Twitter account for the Crimson Tide announced the two destinations for that tour.

Apparently, Oats and Alabama will be traveling to Europe. During a 10-day stretch from Aug. 5-14, the Crimson Tide will play three games, two in Barcelona, Spain on Aug. 8-9 and another in Paris, France on Aug.12.

Soon after the announcement, Oats released a statement about his excitment.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to have our program go on a foreign trip as a team to Barcelona and Paris. It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our guys. It will give us all an opportunity to come together as a team before the season begins through the extra practices we’ll have, the educational and cultural experiences that we’ll encounter and the high-level competition that we plan on facing. It will be an experience that will remain with us all.”

After winning the SEC Tournament with a 26-7 final record during the 2020-21 season, the Alabama basketball team took a slight step back this past season. The Crimson Tide finished the year with a 19-14 record while getting knocked out of the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Despite a signficant turnover of the roster, the hope is that Oats and company can bounce back in Year 4.

Alabama recently inked the nation’s No. 8 overall recruiting class with four top-80 prospects, three of which were ranked in the top-40. Plus, two top-50 transfer portal targets were added in guards Mark Sears and Dominick Welch. In other words, this group is set to make some noise in 2022-23. Will that noise start over in Europe?
