Alabama Football ranks first in SEC, second nationally in Academic Progress Rate

The Alabama football program posted an impressive Academic Progress Rate for the 2023-24 academic year. The Crimson Tide (998) led the SEC and ranked second in the country, trailing only Ohio State (1,000). Alabama came in ahead of third-place Harvard (997).

The Crimson Tide, in its first full year under new head coach Kalen DeBoer, finished one point higher than its 2022-23 APR of 997, which was a program record. This year, Alabama finished eight points higher than the SEC’s second-place football program (Auburn, 990).

According to the school, the Alabama football team finished the 2025 spring semester with a cumulative grade point average of 3.29. That’s the highest mark in program history. A total of 103 players finished the semester with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Seven University of Alabama Athletics’ teams finished with a perfect APR in 2023-24 – men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf, softball, women’s tennis and volleyball. Meanwhile, football, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, women’s track, rowing, baseball, soccer and gymnastics all recorded APRs of 990 or higher during 2023-24.
