Alabama will try to add at least one more WR

Commitments: Malik BensonCole Adams
Expected number of signees: 3

This isn’t necessarily a priority, but is a position where we expect Alabama to add one more.

Alabama is expected to take at least one more wide receiver with a few targets who have scheduled official visits this fall. Jalen Hale, four-star from Longview High School in Texas, will take an official visit to Alabama next weekend. Many have considered Hale a strong lean to Texas with the On3 Sports Recruiting Prediction Machine currently favoring the Longhorns at 74.8-percent. Predictions started to flow in for Hale after he spoke with reports at the Future 50 event at IMG Academy last month. That was prior to a late July visit to Alabama.

“Just being able to sit down with Coach Saban and Coach Wiggins,” Hale told BamaInsider regarding the highlight of his trip. “We talked school and football is always a plus. Basically, they said that I have a chance to be a big part of the offense and get on the field if I come in and work hard.”

Hale visited Alabama on a few other occasions. He has a top three which consists of Alabama, Georgia and Texas. Texas A&M has also been under consideration and may still receive an official visit after he announces a decision. Hale will see the Tide perform twice before his announcement- once in Tuscaloosa and then following weekend in Austin for highly anticipated game against the Longhorns.

Texas appeared in outstanding position for Hale prior to his last visit to Alabama where he spent a lot of time with commitments such as Justice Haynes, Richard Young, Miles McVay and several others. The development and production at receiver throughout the course of the last several years is a strong selling point for the Crimson Tide when it comes to any receiver target.

There has been some positive buzz surrounding Alabama since Hale’s visit. On3 Sports National Recruiting Analyst Jeremy Johnson submitted a prediction in favor of Alabama shortly after Hale’s visit. This remains a tight race to the finish line with Alabama hoping it can land the elite recruit. The biggest challenge- can Hale spurn the Longhorns for the Tide?

Jaren Hamilton will visit Alabama in November

Jaren Hamilton, three-star from Bucholtz High School in Gainesville, Florida, also remains on the Tide’s short list. Hamilton received an offer from Alabama in June after attending the NIck Saban Football Camp on June 15. He returned in July for the Champion Cook-Out.

“What I really like about Alabama is how involved they are with me,” Hamilton said after the visit. “They are real adamant about trying to get me there. I have a really good relationship with the coaches. I am really impressed with everything they have done with players at my position. The success speaks for itself.

“You don’t have to question about them being able to develop you. They’ve had different coordinators and different position coaches. They still produce a high level of talent every year. There is never any question about it. Nick Saban is going to get someone great. I enjoy the coaches there now. They are great, but in this business if you do well you are going to get opportunities. I hope the coaches who are there now will stay, but I know no matter what I would get developed at Alabama and be the player I always hope to be.”

Hamilton is not in any rush to make a decision. He will take an official visit to Alabama on November 25-27. He is also scheduled to visit Tennessee on September 24-25. Hamilton is also expected to visit Michigan and USC. He received an offer from the previous Florida staff, but has not been re-offered by Coach Napier to this point. Florida also has four current wide receiver commitments which is likely a factor in Hamilton’s position with the hometown school.

There are others who may visit and/or still receive attention from Alabama. Demetrius Bell, four-star wide receiver from McGavock High School in Nashville, earned an offer from Alabama in June. Zachariah Branch, five-star from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, has mentioned possibly visiting Alabama this fall.
