Alabama guard Labaron Philon earns third SEC Player of the Week honor

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama men’s basketball guard Labaron Philon Jr. has been named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon. 

The weekly accolade comes after Philon Jr. led Alabama to a pair of victories over Clemson and UTSA. The sophomore averaged 24.3 points, 4.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in Alabama’s two wins.

  • Philon Jr. won his third SEC Player of the Week honor this season and the only player in the SEC to receive the honor more than once 
  • Shot 57 percent from the field, 46 percent from three-point range and 91 percent from the free throw line vs. Clemson and UTSA
  • Recorded his sixth and seventh game scoring 20-points or more this season
  • Matched his career-high in points vs. Clemson, scoring 29 points in the ACC/SEC Challenge
  • Tied his career-best in rebounds vs. UTSA (7)
  • Ranks No. 8 in the country in points per game (21.4 ppg) and No. 43 in assists (5.4 apg)
