No. 12 Alabama basketball has played one of the toughest non-conference schedules in college basketball to date, and it has another high-major opponent lined up this week with Clemson coming to town on Wednesday.

The game is part of the ACC/SEC Challenge, the third year of the event. Alabama is 1-1 in ACC Challenge games, beating North Carolina on the road last season and losing at home to Clemson in 2023-24.

The SEC is 1-0-1 in the challenge through its first two years. The leagues tied 7-7 during the inaugural challenge in 2023-24, and the SEC dominated last year by a margin of 14-2.

In its 16th season under head coach Brad Brownell, Clemson has gotten off to a 7-1 start. The Tigers have picked up high-major wins over Georgia and West Virginia, but lost its only true road game to this point in the season at Georgetown back in mid-November.

Brownell has turned Clemson into a regular NCAA Tournament contender in recent years. Last season the Tigers were a 5-seed and lost in the first round, and in 2024 they made the Elite Eight before losing to Alabama in a rematch of the season’s earlier SEC-ACC Challenge game.

Tipoff between Alabama and Clemson is set for 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday night.
