How to watch, listen to No. 8 Alabama basketball vs. No. 2 Purdue

No. 8 Alabama basketball got one of the biggest wins of the early portion of the season last Saturday, going up to New York and taking down then-No. 5 St. John’s on the road. But as Nate Oats non-conference schedules typically go, it was only the start of a gauntlet.
Next up the Crimson Tide will take on No. 2 Purdue inside Coleman Coliseum on Thursday night. The Boilermakers are the highest-ranked non-conference opponent Alabama has ever hosted, the next-highest being No. 4 Baylor back in 2022.
This will be the third year in a row these two teams have met, and the first time they’ve played in Tuscaloosa in that stretch. They first met in the 2023-24 season up at a neutral site in Toronto, a game Purdue won 92-86. The two schools then started a home-and-home series last season with the first game being an 87-78 Purdue win in Mackey Arena, before the return game this season.
Purdue has become one of the most consistent programs in college basketball under head coach Matt Painter. The Boilermakers have won the Big Ten four times since 2017 and made the Final Four alongside Alabama in 2024.
This season Purdue has started 2-0 with wins over Evansville (82-51) and Oakland (87-77). It brought back a preseason national player of the year candidate in Braden Smith, as well as a first team All-Big Ten selection in Trey Kaufman-Renn and a multi-year starter in Fletcher Loyer.
