Way-too-early top 25 roundup: Where Alabama is projected entering 2025-26

The 2024-25 college basketball season concluded on Monday night as Florida took home the national championship, meaning the sport has officially turned the calendar to the offseason.
With the offseason comes “way-too-early” top 25 rankings, which are even harder to predict in the modern era of college basketball with roster construction that takes well into the offseason to complete. Still, a number of publications released their top 25s this week, so let’s take a look at where Alabama stands:
James Fletcher III, On3
Alabama’s ranking: No. 3
Other SEC teams: No. 4 Kentucky, No. 6 Florida, No. 14 Arkansas, No. 15 Auburn, No. 18 Tennessee
“Alabama could bring back several top talents to the roster, even after losing a large amount of star power from the starting lineup. Nate Oats got an early start replacing the production, but has a few more pieces to make them worthy of conversation at No. 1 overall.”

Jeff Borzello, ESPN
Alabama’s ranking: No. 11
Other SEC teams: No. 6 Kentucky, No. 7 Arkansas, No. 12 Auburn, No. 19 Florida, No. 21 Tennessee

“We just assume Nate Oats will make the right decisions in the transfer portal this spring, considering the Crimson Tide have figured it out seemingly every offseason. Labaron Philon is an NBA decision to watch, but Aden Holloway and a healthy Latrell Wrightsell Jr. should form a solid backcourt. The Tide have also already landed three transfers: Noah Williamson (Bucknell), Taylor Bol Bowen (Florida State) and Jalil Bethea (Miami). They’re not done yet, either.”

John Fanta, FOX Sports
Alabama’s ranking: No. 7
Other SEC teams: No. 11 Auburn, No. 13 Florida, No. 16 Kentucky, No. 17 Tennessee, No. 19 Arkansas, No. 24 Texas
“Having a fully healthy Latrell Wrightsell is one of the Tide’s top storylines heading into next season. The team’s second-leading scorer ruptured his Achilles in November but will be working his way back and leads the returnees alongside Aden Holloway, who should make a big leap in his junior year. Look for sophomore Aiden Sherrell to take his game to another level next season as well. Nate Oats brings in a top-10 recruiting class and has gone into the portal with rising sophomore guard Jalil Bethea, rising junior big man Taylor Bol Bowen, and a 7-foot veteran in Noah Williamson. The job Oats and his staff have done cements Alabama into my top 10.”

Jon Rothstein, CBS Sports
Alabama’s ranking: No. 4
Other SEC teams: No. 12 Auburn, No. 14 Florida, No. 15 Kentucky, No. 18 Arkansas, No. 20 Tennessee, No. 25 Mississippi State
