Auburn included in top 7 for 4-star TE Jackson Bowers

On Sunday, one of Auburn’s top tight end targets, Jackson Bowers, included the Tigers in his top schools cut. The big TE target from Mesa, Arizona (Mountain View High School) cut his list of 20+ offers to 7.

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Bowers is the nation’s No. 17 rated tight end and No. 6 overall recruit in the state of Arizona for the 2023 class, per the On3 consensus ranking. He had 47 receptions for 861 yards and five touchdowns in 11 games as a junior.

Top schools

The 4-star TE named a top seven of Auburn, Alabama, Arizona, BYU, Ole Miss, Oregon, and Washington. He recently took a visit to Auburn for the A-Day game. He left impressed and loved the way that TE coach Brad Bedell coaches as well as how they will use the tight end in the offense.

In the last year, Bowers has taken one unofficial visit to each of his top 7 except for Washington. He made his way around the southeast in April checking out the three SEC schools. all in a row with Auburn being the last stop.

The On3 RPM currently has many schools tied for the lead. Arizona has the slightest lead at 18.7%. Next is BYU with 16.3% followed by Oregon at 14.0%, and Alabama and Auburn tied at 11.7%.

Why Auburn made the cut

Bowers had this to say about the Tigers when he was offered back in January:

“I’m not familiar with Auburn but I’ve watched them play in the Iron Bowl many times. Seeing them compete at the highest level of college football has always appealed to me. There is definitely interest there with them being in the SEC and being a top 25 team almost every year.”
