Fresh off his official visit to Auburn last weekend, 3-star linebacker Phil Picciotti of Perkasie (Pa.) Pennridge is ready to announce his college commitment. He revealed via Twitter on Saturday that it will happen 8 p.m. ET Monday.

Auburn is a finalist, but Oklahoma is the favorite in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. The Sooners are projected to land Picciotti with a 66.3 percent rate.

The Tigers impressed Picciotti on his recent visit

Picciotti officially visited Auburn June 24-26. It was his visit visit to the school. “This is my last official,” Picciotti said after the visit ended. “I don’t really have a date (for announcing), but some point next month (July).”

Picciotti already had been to Michigan, Oklahoma and Nebraska.

“It was my first time here in Alabama and it was good,” he said. “I took in a lot of knowledge from the coaches, met some of the guys, some players and some of the recruits. Overall, I had a pretty great time here. I learned a lot of things and it’s a very nice campus. I like the mindset here at Auburn.”

If Auburn is to land Picciotti, linebackers coach Christian Robinson will be a big reason why.

He likes the Auburn staff

“He’s a great guy. He knows his stuff,” Picciotti said. “I think if I did come here, he’d definitely help me out a lot. I’ve been in heavy contact with him for a while. I’m a priority here. They need a replacement for Owen (Pappoe).”

At this time, Auburn does not yet have any linebacker commitments in the 2023 class. Picciotti, who is listed at 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, is thought to be among the Tigers’ top targets at that position. In fact, Auburn coach Bryan Harsin even shared Picciotti’s commitment plans Tweet on Saturday morning.

Picciotti is the No. 482 overall recruit nationally in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally-weighted, industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks the No. 46 linebacker in the country and No. 12 recruit in Pennsylvania.

Another Auburn linebacker target could have a decision this summer

One week prior to Picciotti’s official visit to Auburn, the Tigers hosted another linebacker target — 4-star recruit Lewis Carter of Tampa Catholic (Fla.). Oklahoma also is very much in the running to land Carter, though Auburn may be more of a threat with him than with Picciotti. Carter also could have a commitment decision this summer, possibly in July but maybe in August. North Carolina and UCF are two other programs heavily involved in his recruitment.
