Class of 2025 4-star QB Deuce Knight includes Auburn in top 10

Class of 2025 four-star quarterback Deuce Knight released a top-10 group of schools on Friday and Auburn football made the cut.

Knight, who is from George County High School in Lucedale, Miss., has a top group that includes six SEC schools. Auburn, Ole Miss, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Texas A&M all made the cut, as did Notre Dame, Oregon, Washington and TCU.

Auburn making the cut didn’t come as a total shock. Knight received an offer from Auburn and Hugh Freeze in January and then visited in March. He had glowing reviews for the Tigers and new coach Hugh Freeze.

“This was my first time,” Knight said after the visit. “I really didn’t have any (expectations) coming in, I just wanted to stop by and see the places that are recruiting me. It was a good time, the campus was nice. It’s the best facility I’ve been to, so I had a good time.”

Knight watched practice, developed relationships with coaches

Knight spent time during the visit watching practice.

“It was fun watching practice,” Knight said. “They competed hard and the offense had a good day. Just seeing them throw it around and move the ball around was cool.”

He liked what he saw from the Tigers’ new offense.

“I know they run a lot of zone, so the quarterback can pull (the ball) and show how athletic they are,” Knight said. “They take a couple of deep shots to show their arms off, so that’s the stuff I do too. It was pretty cool seeing all of that.

“Coach (Hugh) Freeze is an offensive minded coach. I’m an offensive player, so that’s the kind of offense I want to play for.”

Knight also likes new offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery.

“I was with Coach Montgomery (during the visit),” Knight said. “I was just watching to see how he coaches. That was really it. Seeing how he coaches was the biggest thing I wanted to come see. He coached well, he made sure all of his players know everything, in meetings he was asking questions making sure they knew what to do before getting on the field.”
