AUBURN — According to Bruce Pearl, there is a high possibility that Chance Westry will be available to play this week.

Auburn faces Winthrop on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. CT in Neville Arena. This could be Westry’s home debut at Auburn, but Pearl said he will probably only play 10 to 15 minutes.

“There’s a chance (that) Chance could play some and if he does, it’ll probably be 10 or 15 minutes just to get his feet wet, we don’t want to rush him,” Pearl said in his Monday afternoon press conference. “But there’s a chance he could pay tomorrow.”

In mid-October, Westry had knee surgery that he has been recovering from. Each week Pearl has been talking about his improvements and saying that he is getting closer and closer to being available. This week seems to be the week for the freshman.

From Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the 6-foot-6, 190 pound guard was a top-50 signee for Auburn’s 2022 class. He was the No. 38 prospect overall in the nation, according to the On3 Consensus, and No. 7 at his position.

In his first game in an Auburn uniform, Westry scored 13 points to contribute to the Tiger’s first win against the Israel Select Team back in August. In the second game, he only continued to improve. Westry made seven steals and had 18 points during Auburn’s second win on their trip and showed a sneak peak into his versatility at the guard position.
