DJ Durkin nominated for Broyles Award
Auburn interim head coach DJ Durkin has been nominated for the Broyles Award. The Broyles Award is given annually to college football’s top assistant coach.
Durkin entered the season as the Tigers’ defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. He added interim head coach to his list of duties when Auburn fired Hugh Freeze Nov. 2.
Durkin is one of 63 assistant coaches nominated, with the winner announced in mid-February. Fans can have a direct say in the outcome, with the first-ever Broyles Award fan vote.
BROYLES AWARD FAN VOTING
There will be three rounds of voting for the Broyles Award. Each round, the assistant coach with the most fan votes will receive one collective vote. A collective vote carries as much weight as one vote from a Broyles Award committee member.
