Madison Academy (Ala.) athlete Deuce Spurlock visited Auburn on Saturday and watched as the Tigers shut out Alabama State, 62-0.

It was Spurlock’s first visit to Auburn and one that he won’t soon forget.

“It was really impressive,” Spurlock said. “The game environment really shook me.”

Spurlock’s parents, sister and teammate, running back Will Stokes, were with him on the visit. They arrived early, in time for pregame festivities that included Tiger Walk, and stayed until the end of the game.

“Tiger Walk, that was real cool,” Spurlock said. “And the game, the defense got a shutout and a shutout against any college team is tough to do. We went to the locker room after the game and talked to some of the players about Auburn.”

Auburn hasn’t offered, yet

Spurlock, who plays a little at safety, linebacker, edge and even wide receiver for Madison Academy, has offers from Michigan, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Pittsburgh and Syracuse, among others.

Auburn, however, has yet to join the group.

“I talk to (linebackers coach Jeff Schmedding),” Spurlock said. “They are watching me hard, watching my improvement and all that. Auburn is recruiting me to play linebacker.”

Should Auburn offer, it could heavily impact Spurlock’s recruitment.

“It would mean a lot to me,” Spurlock said. “Auburn puts a lot of good defensive players in the league like Derrick Brown. I was a big Cam Newton fan back it the day. Plus, Kerryon Johnson and Malik Miller went to my school and then to Auburn.”

Spurlock, who is listed at six-feet tall and 210 pounds, has not set any official visits.
