Social Slant: Top Twitter reactions to 4-star edge Ashley Williams' commitment to Auburn
Auburn, on Wednesday added a much needed recruit at a position of need. Ashley Williams, a 4-star edge from Zachary, Louisiana made the decision to be a Tiger, giving Auburn Twitter something to celebrate.
Williams recently made a big jump in the On3 rankings. He is ranked as the No. 274 overall player in the country and is a member of the On300.
Williams attended Auburn’s Big Cat Weekend, and buzz grew about his possible de-commitment from The University of Nebraska. Williams entered the Auburn visit committed to the Huskers, and left uncommitted.
That is, until Wednesday.
Williams is now the 6th commitment of the class. He is also the 5th 4-star commitment of the class. He joins 4-star Wilky Denaud at the all-important edge position for the class of 2023.
Auburn Twitter celebrates
The Tigers received commitments from two 4-star 2024 recruits during the Big Cat Weekend event. That was a big deal, but fans were also hoping for some resolution with some 2023 class commitments. Williams is a strong start to helping with recruiting momentum.
