Former Clemson tight end Braden Galloway is getting an opportunity to continue his football career.

Galloway has signed a free agent deal with the Chicago Bears, he announced on his Instagram page.

Galloway is joining the Bears after spending four years at Clemson. He finished his college career with 38 catches for 495 yards and three touchdowns.

His final season was cut short due to a shoulder injury.

“All I needed was a shot. Let’s work,” Galloway posted on Instagram.

While Galloway had a solid career with the Tigers, he did not reach his potential due to a variety of reasons.

As a freshman in 2018, Galloway was suspended for the College Football Playoff and for most of the 2019 season after testing positive for the banned substance Ostarine prior to Clemson’s matchup with Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl.

Galloway returned for Clemson’s playoff run in 2019 and had two catches for 60 yards in the national title game against LSU as the Tigers came up short in New Orleans.

The former Seneca High star had his best season at Clemson in 2020, catching 27 passes for 369 yards and two touchdowns, while starting all 12 games.

Expectations were high for Galloway entering this past season. However, he struggled with drops, battled injuries and caught only four passes for 14 yards.

Still, Galloway is getting a shot at the next level.

Clemson tight end breakdown

Despite Galloway moving on from the program, Clemson is still loaded at tight end heading into the 2022 season.

The Tigers return a veteran in Davis Allen, who finished third on the team with 28 receptions last year.

Allen was out this spring with an injury but is good to go for summer workouts and should be one of the best tight ends in the country in 2022.

Clemson is also getting back tight ends Jake Briningstool and Sage Ennis, who both stepped up when Galloway went down with an injury last season.

And then there’s another veteran who is back in Luke Price. Price made the most of his opportunities this spring while several Tigers dealt with injuries.

First-year tight ends coach Kyle Richardson has a ton of talent to work with, led by Allen.
