CLEMSON — The countdown to kickoff is officially on.
Clemson’s season opener against Georgia Tech is only 100 days away.
The Tigers will face Georgia Tech at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Monday, Sept 5.
Clemson has won seven consecutive games in the series and has not lost to Georgia Tech since 2014.
While Clemson has controlled the series as of late, last year’s game was a nailbiter.
The Tigers led 7-3 at halftime of last year’s game and ended up holding on for a 14-8 victory.
Clemson running back Will Shipley scored the only two touchdowns of last year’s game.
The Tigers have opened as a 20.5-point favorite for the matchup against Georgia Tech. The game will be key for Clemson to begin its season on a strong note. The win total for the Tigers has opened at 10.5.
The Tigers have won at least 11 games during the regular season in five of the past seven years.
The only years Clemson didn’t were in 2020 and 2021. In 2020, there was only one nonconference game due to COVID-19 and the Tigers finished 9-1 during the regular season.
In 2021, Clemson started the season 4-3, before winning its final five regular season games to finish with nine wins.
The Tigers return 15 starters from last season, including nine on the offensive side of the ball.
