Clemson has used the same weekend starting rotation throughout the 2022 season, but that is about to change.

The Tigers will turn to Jay Dill for Game 2 of their series against Wake Forest on Saturday. First pitch in Winston-Salem, North Carolina is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Clemson won Game 1 of the series Friday night.

Dill, a true freshman, will be making his first career start. The Tennessee native has appeared in 17 games this season and is 0-0 with a 3.60 ERA.

Dill has 21 strikeouts in 20 innings pitched, and opposing batters are hitting just .225 against him.

Clemson is turning to Dill in place of Nick Hoffmann, who has been the Game 2 starter for the Tigers all season.

Hoffmann is 3-4 on the season with a 5.50 ERA.

The Tigers could also go with a new starter in Game 3 against Wake Forest. Nick Clayton has been Clemson’s Sunday starter this year, but the starter for this Sunday is to be announced.

Clayton is 0-1 with a 5.06 ERA in eight appearances, including seven starts.
