Clemson rallies past FSU, takes series from No. 9 Seminoles

Clemson went more than 11 months without winning an ACC series. Now the Tigers have won two ACC series in back-to-back weeks.

The Tigers rallied past No. 9 FSU for an 8-5 victory Sunday afternoon at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

Clemson takes the series 2 games to 1 with the win and improves to 7-2 in its past nine games.

Prior to beating Florida State in a series over the weekend, Clemson beat Wake Forest 2-1 in a series last weekend.

Clemson continues to get back in the picture for an NCAA Tournament berth after going through a rough stretch in the middle of the season.

Clemson trailed Florida State 5-3 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning before the Tigers rallied.

Clemson scored one run in the sixth inning, one in the seventh and three in the eighth to turn a two-run deficit into a three-run lead.

The Tigers were aided by five errors by Florida State. Clemson committed five errors of its own but was able to overcome them.

Ryan Ammons earned the win for the Tigers, pitching the final 1 1/3 innings without allowing a run.

Clemson finished with only six hits but was still able to score eight runs.

Blake Wright was 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI. Max Wagner was 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Caden Grice was 1-for-4 with a three-run homer.

Up next, the Tigers will host Presbyterian on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Clemson then has a midweek game with Wofford on Wednesday, before traveling to face Louisville in a three-game series this weekend.
