Clemson opponent announced for ACC-Big Ten challenge
Clemson’s opponent for the yearly ACC-Big Ten challenge has been announced.
The Tigers will face Penn State in the event, the ACC announced Friday morning. The game will be played on Tuesday, Nov. 29.
Penn State is coming off of a 14-17 season under first-year head coach Micah Shrewsberry. Clemson finished 17-16 last year under Brad Brownell.
This is a big upcoming season for Brownell and the Tigers as Clemson looks to get back to the NCAA tournament.
Clemson returns several key contributors from last season, most notably junior forward PJ Hall, who led the Tigers with an average of 15.5 points per game in 2021-22.
Brownell is confident about the team he has coming back.
“I’m incredibly excited about next year. Optimistic. I just think we have the chance to have a special season,” he said.
This has been a busy offseason for Clemson as the Tigers had two guards transfer out of the program in Nick Honor and Al-Amir Dawes.
Clemson also brought in four freshmen and added transfer guard Brevin Galloway.
In addition to having several changes to its roster, Clemson also had several staff changes. Assistant coaches Antonio Reynolds-Dean and Kareem Richardson left Clemson and were replaced by Billy Donlon and Sean Dixon.
The Tigers also added Andy Assaley to the staff from South Carolina as Director of Basketball Operations.
