Clemson will be without star defensive tackle Bryan Bresee for at least another week.

Tigers coach Dabo Swinney said during his Tuesday press conference that Bresee will not play in Saturday’s game at Boston College.

Bresee has been dealing with a “non-football medical issue” that sidelined him ahead of this past Saturday’s game against NC State.

“He’s not going to play this week. I can tell you that,” Swinney said. “He’s doing really good. Really, really good. Everything is great, but they’ve kind of got a protocol in place for him.”

Bresee had bloodwork done last week, and Swinney said that everything checked out well. Sources have indicated to ClemsonSports that Bresee is dealing with a kidney issue.

The junior has been back at practice this week but is focusing on his conditioning.

“He started that yesterday,” Swinney said. “He’s great. Feels great. And again, all of his numbers are where they need to be.”

While Bresee will be out against Boston College, the hope is that he will be ready to return when the Tigers play at Florida State on Oct. 15.

“Just really wanna kind of push him this week and then if everything goes well, as they anticipate, get him back going next week,” Swinney said. “He’s more with the trainers [this week] going through that protocol with them.”

This has been a difficult year for the Bresee family as Bryan’s younger sister, Ella Bresee, passed away after a battle with brain cancer last month.

“Just what his family did not need to deal with at this point,” Swinney said of the issue Bryan Bresee had last week. “Then you’ve got a lot of waiting and stuff, but it all turned out great. We got really good news [Friday]. So we feel great about that, but it was a really tough three or four days for him and his family, especially with all they’ve been through.”
