Clemson’s football program has just landed another signature on National Signing Day.

Moments ago, three-star running back Keith Adams Jr. was announced as a signee by Clemson. His other finalists in his recruitment were Air Force, Marshall, and the University of South Florida.

Adams Jr. signing with Clemson comes just days after officially visiting the school. In our visit recap with Adams Jr., the Utah-based prospect said nothing but great things about the Tigers.

“Clemson made it because I’m familiar with them,” Adams Jr. previously said when discussing his top four. “I think that they’re near the top of my list because I’m already familiar with them. It’s a great school. They’re more than just football and that’s what I like. I want to make a decision for after my college years.”

Adams Jr.’s path to becoming a Clemson Tiger

It was an unforgettable journey for Adams Jr. to become a Tiger.

As some fans will recall, Adams Jr. previously received a grayshirt offer from Clemson back in October 2020. This meant that Adams Jr. would have to postpone his enrollment until the winter, preventing him from playing as a freshman.

Communication then dropped at one point between Adams Jr. and the staff. He told us that in December of 2021, he had not been contacted by the Tigers for a while.

In early January, however, Dabo Swinney reached out to his dad, former Clemson player Keith Adams. It was not directly communicated to Adams Jr., but he told us on Jan. 6 that a full scholarship offer was extended.

Communication with C.J. Spiller then began on Jan. 12. Just over two weeks later, Adams Jr. took his official visit to the school.

On that trip, Adams Jr. told us that Swinney formally gave him a scholarship offer. The reason why he upgraded his offer was because Clemson, at the time, had three scholarship running backs in the fold for next season.

This was by no means a smooth path, but Adams Jr. was well-deserving of an offer. In his final two seasons of high school football, the 5-foot-10, 205-pounder rushed for 2,726 yards and had 39 total touchdowns.

Adams Jr. also becomes the fifth recruit to sign with Clemson who is related to a former Tiger, the others being Cole Turner, Jahiem Lawson, Josh Sapp, and Kobe McCloud.
