Clemson has officially signed versatile athlete Markus Dixon.

The Pennsylvania native signed with Clemson on Wednesday after committing to the Tigers in June.

Dixon signed with Clemson as a tight end after playing all over the field at Archbishop Wood High School in Philadelphia.

In addition to tight end, Dixon also played receiver, defensive end, safety and even quarterback in high school.

Dixon previously spoke with On3 about why he chose Clemson.

“I instantly felt like I was home after spending a day with coaches, players and everyone else that was there to make it feel like a family environment,” Markus Dixon said.

Dixon was named first-team All-Catholic League in 2022. He was a three-year starter in high school.

In a run-heavy offense, he caught 14 passes for 284 yards and three touchdowns this past season, averaging more than 20 yards per catch. Defensively, he finished with 16 tackles and an interception.

Dixon attended the same high school as current Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts.

He will be coached by Tigers tight ends coach and passing game coordinator Kyle Richardson at the next level.

“Coach Richardson is a great man,” Dixon said. “I love how he wants to talk about things outside of football and his knowledge of the game is amazing.”

Dixon is rated as the No. 33 tight end and No. 598 overall player in the country, according to the On3 Consensus rankings. On3 ranks him as the No. 38 tight end in the country.

Dixon is one of two tight ends the Tigers signed for the class of 2023, joining four-star prospect Olsen Henry from Florida.

Dixon believes he can be a difference maker for Clemson down the road. The Tigers are losing starting tight end Davis Allen and reserve Luke Price after this year.

Clemson does have other tight ends returning in Jake Briningstool and Sage Ennis. They also signed Josh Sapp in the 2022 recruiting class.

“I think I will bring a big impact into the Clemson offense and the passing game,” Dixon said. “I can’t wait until my time there.”
