Clemson has secured its first running back commitment for the class of 2023.

Dutch Fork star Jarvis Green has committed to Clemson, he announced Tuesday afternoon.

Green joins the Tigers’ class after being offered by Clemson last week.

He is the 24th commitment for the Tigers, who have the No. 10 recruiting class in the country, according to the On3 Consensus rankings.

Green recently spoke with On3 about why he chose Clemson.

“The coaches, they had great bonds with me and kept in contact with me for a long time and told me I’m a great player and would fit perfectly in their schemes,” Jarvis Green said.

“Just the environment, the coaches and how they carry on with their players and how they treat them as one of their sons. And how they always have their back no matter what.”

Green rushed for 2,272 yards and 33 touchdowns this season in 13 games, leading the Silver Foxes to a state title.

He was previously committed to James Madison, before opening up his recruitment over the weekend.

Green will be reunited with former Dutch Fork teammate Antonio Williams at Clemson.

Williams leads Clemson in receptions and receiving yards this year with 53 catches for 563 yards after starring at Dutch Fork last season.

“It’s going to be a Dutch Fork duo back again. I always wanted to play with Antonio at the college level. Watching him this year, he’s been balling out,” Green said. “I always text him after every game, telling him I’m proud of him and that he’s doing great and to keep his head up and let God do the work for him, because he’s a special player. He runs the best routes. He could go to the NFL right now.”

Green’s lead recruiter is former Tigers star running back CJ Spiller, who is currently the running backs coach at Clemson.

Green added that he has a great relationship with Spiller.

“We talked over the phone Saturday. I was at Mr. Football. He called me before and wished me good luck and said he was praying that I won. It was just nothing but a simple conversation,” Green said.

“His message to me was just always stay patient and just hope everything falls in place. He’s just a cool guy and cool coach, always down to earth. He never hypes himself up too much. He just told me stay true to myself and hopefully everything will play out right.”
