What you can expect from Clemson Sports, On3

I loved my time at The State newspaper covering Clemson and am proud of the work I did there for nearly six years.

With that said, there was one thing I’ve never had during my career that I’ve always wanted — a message board community and site to share with Clemson fans. There were plenty of times over the years when I picked up info or nuggets that might not have been worth a full story but that diehard Clemson fans would want to know.

During games and after practices and media availabilities, I wanted a place to share with Clemson fans what I saw or what I learned. And also a place to hear from all of you about what you saw and what you wanted more coverage of.

I can’t wait to have that place here at ClemsonSports.com and with On3.

I wasn’t looking to leave The State when I was approached by Shannon Terry, founder of Rivals.com and 247Sports.com, about joining his new company On3. But after hearing his vision and realizing that this site would be exactly what I was looking for, I couldn’t agree to come on board quickly enough.

Terry has assembled a talented staff that is working together to provide the best coverage in college football. Ivan Masiel, formally of ESPN, is leading the college football coverage, with national recruiting expert Chad Simmons leading the way on recruiting. (Simmons has already stopped by the board to post an update Clemson fans will want to read on an elite target).

We have several other talented writers and recruiting reporters on board, both nationally and at team sites, and a recruiting database is in the works that will be unlike anything the recruiting industry has ever seen.

As for our site, we’ll continue to expand and are hiring a respected and hard-working full-time recruiting reporter who will be coming on board soon. National writers will also stop by with tidbits and updates, and I’ll of course always be around to do the same.

Clemson is in the middle of a historic run under Dabo Swinney, and I’m thankful to have been there to cover it every step of the way.

My first year on the Clemson beat just so happened to be the first year the Tigers went to the College Football Playoff, a streak that is at six years and counting. It’s a streak that doesn’t appear close to ending anytime soon.

Over the past several years, it’s been awesome getting to know athletes and coaches and sharing their stories, and I’m looking forward to doing that here as well. We’ll also do much more than that with in-depth analysis, quick hit updates after practices and availabilities and plenty of other notes about Clemson and college football in general.

Come join us. We have an introductory offer going on now — $10 for an entire year of message board access and insider content.

I’ll see you on the board soon.
