CLEMSON — Dabo Swinney’s squad is 1-1 as ACC play begins this weekend. There’s plenty to talk about before the Tigers face Georgia Tech Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. ClemsonSports senior writer Matt Connolly is answering whatever questions you have leading into the matchup. Today’s question is about issues entering the stadium.

The first Clemson home game with a near capacity crowd since November of 2019 didn’t come without its share of issues.

The Tigers hosted SC State last weekend in front of nearly 79,000 fans, but several of them had trouble getting into Memorial Stadium in a timely fashion.

The biggest issue was that fans didn’t have tickets downloaded prior to arriving at the gate. That led to thousands of people trying to download tickets at the same time. There were then technology issues with so many people using the site at once.

Clemson is encouraging fans to download tickets prior to arriving for Saturday’s ACC opener against Georgia Tech. They can then put the tickets in their mobile wallet. A packed house is expected for Saturday’s matchup.

“Clemson is excited to welcome a sold-out crowd to Memorial Stadium this weekend,” Clemson Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications Jeff Kallin said. “In advance of the event, we are asking all fans to begin downloading their tickets early and arrive at the gates early in order to facilitate the entry process.”

There is a full mobile ticketing guide available on the Clemson Athletics website.

It includes a video and walks you through how to add tickets to your digital wallet, transfer tickets to someone else and what to do to make sure that when you arrive at the gate you are able to scan quickly and enter the stadium.

Clemson expects the process to be much better for this week’s game.

“Clemson officials have met on ways to address some of the delays at the gates that come with a new ticketing process,” Kallin said. “Clemson has many resources available sent via email and at ClemsonTigers.com.”

Clemson and Georgia Tech both enter Saturday’s game with 1-1 records.

The Tigers opened the season with a loss to Georgia before beating SC State last weekend. Georgia Tech dropped its season opener against Northern Illinois before bouncing back to beat Kennesaw State last week.
