Clemson defensive end Xavier Thomas has yet to play in a game this season after suffering a foot injury during fall camp.

The senior is capable of being an explosive pass rusher for the Tigers when he does return to the field.

Thomas posted an update on how his injured foot is doing on Twitter Tuesday afternoon.

“Coach Swinney nor I can give you a ‘real timeline,'” Thomas posted on Twitter. “I’m currently six weeks out of surgery from a broken foot. I was hoping to be back La Tech week, but I’ve come to learn it is not up to me. I’m done trying to map it out myself.”

The Louisiana Tech game was played on Sept. 17. Thomas also missed this past week’s game against Wake Forest.

Swinney said earlier Tuesday that he is unsure if Thomas will play on Saturday against NC State.

Thomas added that he is “on God’s timing and on his schedule.”

“It is still too much pain to go play full speed. Am I making progress every day? YES. A lot of it every day, because I’ve been working my [tail] off and haven’t wasted a day during this process and I’m in the best shape of my entire life and can’t wait to show the world what I can do and what this Clemson family deserves out of me,” Thomas posted. “Right now it is day to day and hoping I can go this week. If not this week, the same with next week. Either way I will be back very soon. The wait will be 100 percent worth it. Trust HIM!”

Thomas, who is a former five-star recruit, was named third-team All-ACC last season after recording 27 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. He also forced two fumbles.

Thomas had his most productive season as a freshman in 2018, finishing with 10.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks as Clemson won the national title that season.
