Clemson lands commitment from class of 2023 playmaker
The recruiting momentum for Clemson continued Tuesday afternoon as tight end Markus Dixon announced his commitment to Clemson.
The 2023 prospect revealed his decision on social media after visiting Clemson earlier this month.
Dixon received an offer from the Tigers on June 3 and committed less than two weeks later.
“I instantly felt like I was home after spending a day with coaches, players and everyone else that was there to make it feel like a family environment,” Dixon told On3 of his decision.
The 6-foot-4, 225-pound prospect is the 11th commit for Clemson in the class of 2023. He chose the Tigers just a day after 2023 linebacker Jamal Anderson committed to Clemson.
The Tigers have now landed seven commits this month, and more could be on the way.
One reason Dixon chose the Tigers is because of his relationship with first-year assistant coach Kyle Richardson. Richardson will serve as Dixon’s position coach and is also Clemson’s passing game coordinator.
“Coach Richardson is a great man,” Dixon said. “I love how he wants to talk about things outside of football and his knowledge of the game is amazing.”
Dixon is rated as the No. 458 overall player in the country, according to the On3 Consensus rankings. He is viewed as the No. 24 tight end and the seventh-ranked player in Pennsylvania, according to On3.
Dixon is Clemson’s second tight end commit in the class of 2023, joining Florida native Olsen Henry, who committed to the Tigers last week.
Dixon believes he can be a difference maker for Clemson down the road. The Tigers are losing starting tight end Davis Allen and reserve Luke Price after this year.
Clemson does have other tight ends returning in Jake Briningstool and Sage Ennis. They also signed Josh Sapp in the 2022 recruiting class.
“I think I will bring a big impact into the Clemson offense and the passing game,” Dixon said. “I can’t wait until my time there.”
