Report: Miami set to hire Clemson's Dan Radakovich as athletic director
One day after reports surfaced about Miami’s athletic director search being a “mess,” the Hurricanes have reportedly found their new AD. And he’s staying in the ACC.
Clemson athletic director Dan Radakovich is set to replace Blake James as Miami’s AD, according to John Canzano of The Oregonian.
Radakovich has been the athletic director at Clemson since 2012 after six years at Georgia Tech in the same role. Prior to Georgia Tech, Radakovich was a senior associate athletic director at LSU from 2001-06, where he was instrumental in the renovation of Tiger Stadium.
He oversaw a period of growth for Clemson, including facility improvements and an impressive run of College Football Playoff appearances from the Tigers’ football team, including two CFP titles.
According to Canzano, Radakovich’s first big decision is going to be on a football coach. Manny Diaz has been rumored to be on the hot seat all season, and other candidates have popped up even though Diaz hasn’t been let go yet.

Miami has yet to fire head coach Manny Diaz, but the Hurricanes might have their eyes on a new coach already.
The Hurricanes are reportedly looking to hire Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal in the coming days. The news was first reported by Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
“Cristobal’s level of interest remains unclear,” Jackson added. “Some associates believe would strongly consider, others believe content at Oregon.”
The Oregon leader has previously denied he would leave Eugene for another destination.
Cristobal is a Miami native and graduate of the school, and his first head coaching job was at Florida International from 2007-2012. He has a 62-59 record over 11 years as a head coach, including a 35-12 record at Oregon.
The Hurricanes finished the regular season 7-5, so they are bowl eligible. Potential bowl destinations include the Sun Bowl in El Paso and the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, among others.
