Phil Steele places Clemson in way-too-early AP top 10

For Clemson standards, last fall was a disappointment.

The Tigers fell in their season opener to Georgia, which eventually won the national championship. They then tacked on losses to NC State and Pitt as their offense was a far cry from what it was under Trevor Lawrence. Still, they pieced together a 10-3 season, including a win in the Cheez-It Bowl over Iowa State.

Now the attention turns to next fall. Longtime college football writer Phil Steele released his AP top 10 for 2022, six months in advance, on Monday. Clemson made the cut, clocking in at No. 4 only behind Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State. The Tigers had just as much if not more hype entering last year; that will not be changing this offseason.

But with plenty of turnover on his coaching staff the past few months, Dabo Swinney has plenty to prove this fall. Will this offense take the next step forward with DJ Uiagalelei? Can Clemson have an elite defense without Brent Venables at the helm? And can the Tigers make the College Football Playoff after missing the tournament for the first time since its inception?

The expectations are high that all can be met, which is why Clemson landed in the top five of Phil Steele’s preseason top 10 teams.

2023 WR Noah Rogers talks Tyler Grisham, interest in Clemson

A duo of Adam Randall and Antonio Williams, as well as the late addition of Cole Turner, made for a solid receiver recruiting class for Clemson in the 2022 cycle.

Tyler Grisham and the Tigers coaching staff are looking to continue their stellar recruiting efforts at the position with this year’s batch of prospects. With Nathaniel Joseph already in the fold, Clemson has a few other key targets at pass catcher on their radar.

One of those options is Noah Rogers, who was a recipient of an offer from Grisham back on Jan. 12.

The receiver spoke with Clemson Sports about the offer and Clemson.

When PJ Hall, Hunter Tyson might be back for Clemson basketball

As Clemson basketball enters the final week of the regular season, there is still some uncertainty as far as when PJ Hall and Hunter Tyson will return to the court.

Tyson, who is Clemson’s senior leader, has been out since Feb. 2 with a broken clavicle. Hall, who leads the Tigers in scoring, has missed nearly three full games with a left foot injury.

Tigers coach Brad Brownell spoke Monday on the ACC coaches teleconference and provided the latest on both players.
