Clemson AP poll streak snapped

For the first time in 58 polls, Clemson was not listed in the top-five teams when the AP top-25 poll dropped on Monday afternoon.

After falling 10-3 to Georgia in Charlotte, the Tigers clocked in at No. 6, while the Bulldogs jumped up to the No. 2 spot. Alabama remained at No. 1 after routing No. 14 Miami at the Chick-fil-A Classic in Atlanta. Ohio State, Oklahoma and Texas A&M rounded out the rest of the top five, respectively.

According to Clemson SID Ross Taylor, Clemson’s streak of 57 consecutive polls in the AP Top 5 was the second-longest streak since the AP Poll’s inception in 1936.

One of the biggest games of Week 1 and the largest nonconference matchup for Clemson this season, the Georgia loss did not drop the Tigers outside of the top-1. If Clemson can piece together a perfect ACC slate and win its seventh-straight conference championship, the Tigers can make a case to make the College Football Playoff.

That continues Saturday when Clemson welcomes S.C. State to Death Valley.

Former Clemson defensive back signed to Seahawks practice squad

Former Clemson safety Tanner Muse has been signed to the Seattle Seahawks practice squad. First reported by the NFL Network, he was surprisingly released by the Las Vegas Raiders.

A third-round draft pick by the Raiders in 2020, he was listed as a starting linebacker throughout training camp. Now Muse is headed to Seattle where he will jon the practice squad.

The linebacker spent his rookie season on injured reserve with a foot injury. Muse developed into an NFL-caliber talent with the Tigers, spending five seasons with the Tigers from 2015 to 2019. He was named a Thorpe Award semifinalist in his final season, registering 55 tackles, two sacks, four interceptions and five passes defended. He finished his career with seven interceptions.

Clemson-Georgia film review: Breaking down missed opportunities

Georgia has one of the best defenses in the country, without a doubt, but Clemson didn’t do itself any favors Saturday night against the Bulldogs. The Tigers finished with only three points, their fewest in the Dabo Swinney era, and were out of rhythm all night offensively.

ClemsonSports.com senior writer Matt Connolly went back and watched the game to break down what exactly went wrong and look at some opportunities that were missed.

No. 3 overall junior Sonny Styles is ready for first-ever visit

Alex “Sonny” Styles has family connections to both Notre Dame and Ohio State, but that hasn’t stopped national programs from recruiting him.

On June 1, Clemson entered its name into the Styles Sweepstakes by extending him an offer. Since the start of this month, they’ve sent out multiple edits to the product of Pickerington (Ohio).

Next week, the Tigers will finally get an opportunity to meet Styles face-to-face as he’ll be in attendance for their ACC opener against Georgia Tech.

ClemsonSports.com senior recruiting reporter Joseph Hastings caught up with Styles and what he is looking forward to on his visit.
