D.J. Uiagalelei hints at Dr. Pepper partnership

D.J. Uiagalelei appears on his way to being the next superstar quarterback produced by Clemson.

He started two games last season while Trevor Lawrence sat out in COVID-19 protocol and showed that he is ready to take over the Tigers offense. Now he will have his chance this fall. His first test will be against Georgia in Charlotte on Sept. 4.

The expectation that Uiagalelei will be one of the best players in college football this fall has him cashing in on his Name, Image and Likeness. The sophomore signed a deal with Bojangles last month, joining North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell on the deal.

And on Tuesday night, Uiagalelei sent out a tweet hinting at a possible partnership with Dr. Pepper. Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated confirmed Wednesday morning that Uiagalelei will star in a Dr. Pepper national ad campaign.

The drink-based company is an official sponsor of the College Football Playoff and has a series of commercials, which air on a variety of channels throughout the college football season, focused on the fictional town of “Fansville.”

D.J. Uiagalelei continues to be a marketable athlete.

Clemson’s Rashard Hall named to NFL advisory committee

The NFL announced in August the formation of an advisory committee consisting of selected athletic administrators across the country through a partnership with FBS/FCS football programs.

This group will collaborate with the league to provide feedback on engagement opportunities, identify strategies to enhance college outreach efforts and develop effective solutions to support the college football player pathway.

Clemson’s director of career and player development Rashard Hall was named to the committee in an administrator committee representative role on Tuesday. In his role with the Tigers, Hall helps athletes prepare and obtain career success. A Clemson graduate, he was an All-American safety during his time with the Tigers. He had a short stint in the NFL, too.
