Justyn Ross ‘back to that old me’ at NFL Combine

Justyn Ross is not participating in this week’s NFL Combine. The former Clemson receiver didn’t play in any of Clemson’s final three games of the season, dealing with a foot injury. This all comes after he missed had a congenital fusion in his spine, which forced him to sit out the entire 2020 season.

Sitting on the podium in Indianapolis on Wednesday, Ross provided a major update on how he is recovering from his foot injury.

“I feel like I’m back to that old Justyn,” he said. “Even this year with this year I was dealing with a lot — playing through that injured foot and everything like that. So I feel like I’m back to that old me.”

If Ross could have entered the NFL Draft after his sophomore year, odds are he would have been a lock first-round pick. But since the injuries hampered his progression and overall health, teams have definitely taken a second look. He is not landing on the first round mock drafts he was this fall, and that is fine.

He knows what a healthy Justyn Ross can bring to an NFL team.

“There’s a lot of doubt out there,” he said. “Even with me playing this season, there’s still a lot of doubt. But I feel good about it.”

Ross is back to feeling healthy. He truly believes his body is back to a place where he can give defenses trouble. And he sent that message to NFL teams Wednesday in Indianapolis.

But on March 17 when he holds his Pro Day workout at Clemson, he can truly declare he is ready to be a serious prospect come April’s draft.

Clemson practice observations: Starting offense, first look at freshmen

For the first time since December, Clemson’s entire team was on the practice field on Wednesday as spring practice got underway.

This marked our first look at the 2022 version of the Tigers, which has several new starters and a handful of new assistants.

Clemson Sports was on hand to break down what stood out from watching Wednesday’s workout.

Clemson is standing out to second-ranked 2024 QB Dylan Raiola

In just under three months, Clemson’s football staff will begin extending offers to members of the Class of 2024.

With offers not being dished out until June 1, the Tigers have been, and currently are, focused on building relationships with sophomore prospects and evaluating their film. One of the recruits on the program’s radar is Chandler (Ariz.) product Dylan Raiola, who is the second-ranked quarterback in the On3 Consensus.

Raiola told On3’s Chad Simmons this week that Clemson is one of nine schools standing out to him right now. The coveted sophomore signal caller broke down what is piquing his interest the most about the Tigers.

Clemson rallies from 13 down to stun Georgia Tech

Brad Brownell has praised the effort and never-quit attitude of his team throughout what has been a tough 2021-22 season. Wednesday night that refusal to quit paid off with an impressive come-from-behind win.

Clemson battled back from a 13-point second-half deficit to stun Georgia Tech 68-65 at Littlejohn Coliseum.  Naz Bohannon scored and was fouled on a 3-point play with 14 seconds left to lift Clemson to a win.

The victory was Clemson’s third straight after the Tigers went on a six-game losing streak in February.
