Clemson makes cut for top-100 prospect

The Tigers have made the list of top eight schools for 2023 defensive lineman Kelby Collins. A four-star recruit, Collins ranks in On3’s top 100 prospects. The 6-foot-5, 245-pounder is the 56th-overall player in his class.

Clemson was listed in Collins’ final schools on Thursday night, joining Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M, Florida, Georgia, Texas and South Carolina.

From Gardendale High School (Alabama), Collins received an offer from the Tigers on June 1. Clemson currently has just one commit in the class of 2023, wide receiver Nathaniel Joseph.

“When I got up there for my first visit, I knew something was special about it,” Collins said of Clemson to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “From how all the coaches handle themselves and how they use God in everything they do. Also everything is close to campus, which is a plus.”

Collins has not announced a decision day at this point, but Clemson is officially looking for commitment No. 2 in the class.

2023 TE Ethan Davis talks contact with Tony Elliott, interest in Clemson

Clemson just reeled in a commitment from 2022 prospect Josh Sapp, but their tight end board in the following cycle is still a work in progress.

The program’s only offer at the position is to Duce Robinson, a top-30 overall junior in the country. Tigers tight ends coach Tony Elliott recently took a trip to Robinson’s school and attended his game just under a couple of weeks ago.

Elliott is continuing to monitor other players besides Robinson, with Collins Hill High School’s Ethan Davis being one of them. He caught up with ClemsonSports.com senior recruiting reporter Joseph Hastings.

Clemson-Syracuse film review: DJ Uiagalelei better, OL takes step back

DJ Uiagalelei is finally starting to look like the quarterback Clemson thought it had going into the season.

The sophomore completed 21 of 34 passes for 181 yards and a touchdown Friday at Syracuse, and that was despite five drops by Tigers receivers.

Uiagalelei was far from perfect against the Orange, but he was a large reason why Clemson managed only 17 points, including three in the second half.

ClemsonSports.com senior writer Matt Connolly broke it all down in his latest film review.
