Swinney brothers release custom merchandise line

Dabo Swinney’s sons aren’t waiting to get in on the Name, Image and Likeness action.

Will and Drew Swinney have launched “Holder U,” a centric custom merchandise line through the Players Trunk. Their store, dubbed the “Swinney Brothers,” features T-shirts and sweatshirts depicting the two brothers holding the football for a kick with their signatures below. They are also selling footballs signed by both brothers.

The shop is on the same site that Justyn Ross unveiled his merchandise on last week. While Dabo Swinney is their father and brings them into the spotlight, the two brothers have built a solid social media following over the years. They each have over 30,000 followers on Instagram, and Will Swinney has more than 165,000 TikTok followers.

A redshirt junior, Will Swinney is a wide receiver for Clemson but has also been the program’s starting placeholder for field goals and extra points since 2017. He was a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy last season and enters this fall with 28 catches for 168 yards and a touchdown across 56 career games. His younger brother, Drew Swinney, is a redshirt junior wide receiver who has also appeared as a holder and has caught five passes for 29 yards in 17 games.

Will and Drew Swinney are ready to attack the new era of NIL as they help build Clemson into the true “Holder U.”

Jeremiah Alexander picks Alabama

Jeremiah Alexander was down to two schools: Clemson and Alabama.

On Thursday afternoon, he chose to stay home and join the Crimson Tide. The 5-star prospect was originally committed to Alabama, and he chose to stick with his initial decision. The rising senior at Thompson High is the top edge rusher in the class of 2022.

For Clemson, missing out on the 6-foot-2, 235-pound is disappointing but doesn’t stop what the Tigers are building. Clemson’s 2022 recruiting class currently includes quarterback Cade Klubnik, wide receiver Adam Randall, offensive linemen Collin Sadler and Blake Miller, cornerback Toriano Pride, safety Sherrod Covil, specialist Robert Gunn and defensive end Jihaad Campbell.

“I knew it was Bama after I continued to pray and talk to God about it,” Alexander told Chad Simmons on Twitter. “I grew up watching Alabama football… watching coach Saban win national titles… so why not be part of that?”

Five Tigers named to All-ACC Academic Team

Five Tigers were named to the All-ACC Academic Baseball Team on Thursday. The five selections ties for the third most in the ACC.

Pitchers Mack Anglin, Mat Clark, Geoffrey Gilbert and Nick Hoffmann were joined by infielder James Parker on the team. It is the second time Clark has been named to the squad.

Anglin had a 3.99 ERA with a team-high 75 strikeouts in 56 1/3 innings. A 2020 graduate, Clark tallied two saves with a 4.28 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 40 innings. Gilbert boasted a team-best 2.23 ERA along with three saves. The final Clemson pitcher to make the All-ACC list, Hoffman recorded a team-best four saves and struck out 40 batters across 49 1/3 innings.

Parker hit a team-high .324 with eight homers and 38 RBIs.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 GPA for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative GPA during one’s academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the squad.
