CLEMSON — This could end up being a huge week for Clemson in recruiting.
Cornerback target Toriano Pride announced Wednesday afternoon on Twitter that he has set his commitment date.
Pride, a four-star cornerback from Missouri, is set to announce his decision on Friday.
Pride set his commitment date just a few hours after Tigers safety target Sherrod Covil announced that he is committing on Thursday. Both players attended Clemson’s “Elite Retreat” this past weekend and have the Tigers in their group of finalists.
If Clemson lands both Covil and Pride it would be a huge boost for a Clemson recruiting class that currently has five commits.
Toriano Pride is ranked as the No. 187 overall player in the country and No. 4 player in Missouri, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Covil comes in at No. 198 overall and the 11th-best safety in the nation.
Landing Pride and Covil would also mark three commits for the Tigers this week.
Clemson landed a commitment from kicker Robert Gunn III on Monday of this week.
Covil and Pride would be the first two defensive commits in the class of 2022.
In addition to Gunn, the Tigers already have commitments from quarterback Cade Klubnik, receiver Adam Randall and offensive linemen Collin Sadler and Blake Miller.
Clemson has been busy in the two weeks since the dead period ended.
The Dabo Swinney Football Camp was held at Clemson the first two weeks of June, before the “Elite Retreat” was held this past weekend.
During the “Elite Retreat” Clemson hosted several of its top targets for the class of 2022 and 2023.
