The scholarship offers continue to pour in for one of the elite quarterbacks in the 2025 class.

After turning heads at UF’s Friday Night Lights, Jacksonville native Colin Hurley was presented with a scholarship offer from Billy Napier’s staff. It marked his second offer of the week, as Alabama pulled the trigger just four days prior.

Hurley, who has since been offered by Texas A&M, previously received the green light from Dan Mullen’s staff as well.

“Being offered by the new staff at Florida means a lot,” Hurley told Gators Online. “Obviously, I was the No. 1 target for the previous staff, so it was important to get in front of the new staff and meet them while showing them why I’m the top QB in the country. I feel I did that.

“It was a great time. I really loved competing and feel like I made a great impression on the new staff. Also, I really felt a good vibe from them and feel like they felt the same thing from me. I left with the Florida offer, so that is what’s most important.

“They were really impresssed by what I can do with my arm. They already knew I could do it but wanted to see it in person.”

Hurley and the Gators spent quality time in the film room

While the majority of his attention was on the camp, Hurley made sure to arrive in Gainesville several hours prior. He was able to spend an extended amount of time with UF’s staff while also diving into his projected fit.

All in all, Hurley arrived on campus roughly five hours prior to Friday Night Lights.

“They were great and all football nerds just like me (laughter). We spoke about a lot of things though,” Hurley said. “We really went over some football playcalling, defensive fronts and coverages, throwing, looking at film, like, going over reads, windows, timing and dropbacks.

“They also looked over my film and were really impressed about what I can do. They really compared it to Anthony (Richardson) a lot. It was a really great time there. The culture is different. I really see a change starting to happen and feel like Florida is going to be back on top soon.”

Another highlight of Friday’s visit was kicking back with Billy Napier. Hurley speaks highly of the head coach’s football IQ and says it’s effortless when communicating with him in person.

“Coach Napier is super knowledgeable. He knows what he’s talking about,” Hurley said. “I really think he was really impressed with some of the training I do. He likes my build and likes bigger quarterbacks, which is why he likes comparing me to Anthony.

“He’s just a regular guy. He was fun to hang out with, fun to talk with, and I really vibed with him a lot and liked him a lot. I’m definitely going back down to Florida a couple of times this year.”

Another trip to the Swamp is already scheduled

The recruiting dead period went back into effect at midnight and runs until the start of the season.

However, Hurley says it will not be long before he receives another up-close look at the Gators. Additional trips to campus are likely to take place in the fall as well.

“I’m definitely going to that Utah game; I know that,” Hurley said. “I only live 67 miles away and they really target me a lot now. They said they want me as the quarterback there and want me to get on campus as much as possible. I think I’m going to try to make another game this year, but I don’t know yet. I know I’m definitely going to that Utah game though.”

A two-time state champion from Trinity Christian High, Hurley possesses additional offers from Ohio State, LSU, Georgia, Miami, Florida State, Ole Miss and Michigan State among others.

According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction, the Gators’ odds of 24 percent rank first early on.
