Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian star Treyaun Webb has set foot in Gainesville over a handful of times as a recruit; however, Tuesday’s visit will likely have a much different feel.

Webb, a four-star running back, is set to visit Florida for the first time since making his commitment on July 7. The recruiting dead period kicked into gear in late June and was in effect until Sunday evening.

Now, the 2023 prospect is set to reconnect with Billy Napier’s staff, this time as a Gators commit, and discuss future plans for the class.

“I’ve always loved Florida because it’s close to home, the hometown feeling, my cousin played there, everything just seemed right. Now that they are recruiting me, it’s kind of a perfect fit and everything lines up. There are no excuses now,” Webb told Gators Online earlier this year.

“They’re building that championship culture back. From what I’ve seen from their practices, they could be a national title contender this year.”

According to the 2023 Consensus Football Team Recruiting Rankings, Florida has the No. 16 recruiting class. Twelve prospects are currently teamed up with the SEC program, including 10 from the Sunshine State.

However, that number is likely to expand later this week.

Four-star prospects Aidan Mizell, Ja’Keem Jackson and Jordan Castell are making their commitments before the end of the month, with the Gators trending heavily for all three.

Like Webb, those trio of prospects have consistently raved about their connection with UF’s staff.

“I chose Florida because of the education and the opportunities after football,” Webb told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “I have felt a connection with the staff from the beginning and they truly care.”

South Carolina and Penn State were the additional finalists in Webb’s recruitment.

Scouting Report on Treyaun Webb

Right off the bat, you can tell that Webb has excellent vision and balance. Webb keeps a lower center of gravity to make it difficult for defenders to bring him down, allowing chunk plays and extra yards to occur. Once receiving the ball, Webb rarely misses a read on where to take it next.

While Webb doesn’t “wow” you outstanding speed, he makes up for it in other categories. While his long speed may get him hawked down in the SEC, his burst around the line of scrimmage is noticeable. Listed at 5-foot-11, 188-pounds, Webb makes it nearly impossible for defenders to bring him down. The Jacksonville native lowers his shoulder on defenders often, sometimes running right over them. The TCA back shows off a disgusting stiff arm in various clips throughout his high school film.

Webb could beef up to 200-205 pounds at the next level, finding use as an early-down back.

The Conquerors even put Webb in multiple Wildcat sets, allowing him to efficiently cut through the defense. Ultimately, Webb will do well in a run-first offense such as Billy Napier’s. He is comfortable with running between and outside the tackles.

The next step for Webb? Developing his pass-protection skills and his receiving game. Throughout his highlights, many of his best plays come on the ground. While Florida will continue to use running back by committee, it never hurts to be well versed in all aspects of the game. — GO’s Donavon Keiser
