On Wednesday, Florida wide receiver Daquayvious Sorey included the Florida Gators in his top eight schools, among six other SEC schools.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound receiver also included Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas A&M, South Carolina and Miami among his top schools.

According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Sorey is the No. 31 wide receiver in the 2023 class. The Chipley prospect is the No. 192 player overall and No. 38 junior in Florida for the class of 2023.

Florida continues to stay in the mix for the former Georgia commit

With Florida making the cut, this is what Sorey told On3’s Hayes Fawcett about UF and the staff.

“Florida is a good school and has a cool environment,” Sorey said. “Coach Napier is one of the best at recruiting some of the best talent. He also has a good relationship with his players and staff.”

In March, Sorey told Gators Online that the Gators were in his top five, so this comes as no surprise. In February, Sorey de-committed from Georgia, where his brother Xavian Sorey plays. Despite de-committing, Sorey is still considering the Dawgs in his recruitment.

Sorey also has a personal connection to the Florida staff as his cousin, Lamar Sorey, serves as a quality control assistant for the Gators.

“Having somebody that is already here at Florida and knowing he’s my cousin, that’s the key,” Sorey told GO in March. “That’s somebody I can talk to that is already here and I can build relationships with some of the coaches on the staff.”

Sorey also talks with coach Keary Colbert, the wide receivers coach for the Gators.

“Coach KC is real energetic,” Sorey told GO after a practice in March. “He ran routes today; I got to see him move around a little bit. I’d love coach KC to coach me.”
