The No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers swept the Florida Gators on the baseball diamond Sunday.

The Vols baseball team has taken on a bad boy role this year. They talk trash. When they hit home runs, they throw a faux fur coat on the batter and crown him with a pink hat that reads daddy. It might sound like a lot but they back it up.

The Vols are 37-3 and 17-1 SEC. The 17-1 start is the best start of any team in SEC history. As the saying goes, to the victor goes the spoils. If you don’t like the way Tennessee celebrates, don’t let them win.

“There’s nothing you can say at this point right now. Everybody just kind of needs to regroup and kind of reflect,” Kevin O’Sullivan said after the game. “Look at the weekend in their own way that they feel they need to look at it and we come back on Tuesday and have a good practice. I don’t want to sound coach-speak, but what are you going to do. It’s disappointing.”

Vols baseball trolls Gators

Tennessee chartered a flight from Knoxville to Gainesville on Thursday for their weekend series. The Vols took the first two games of the series with ease. The Gators had a 4-1 lead in the ninth inning before losing to Tennessee in 11 innings on Sunday.

With another series sweep (Tennessee has swept five of its six league series) in hand, the Vols were riding high. They had accommodations, through UF, to bus from Condron Ballpark to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium to shower and change prior to their flight back to Knoxville.

While inside the football stadium, Vol father Evan Russell posted an Instagram story showing him and his teammates wearing Gator football helmets.

Incidentally, those are the helmets the Gators wore in the one game that Tennessee has beaten Florida in football in the last 17 meetings.

Gators linebacker responds

The tweet started to make the rounds on social media. Tennessee fans were celebrating. Gator fans were mixed between trying to troll back and angry about the transgression. It’s unclear whether the helmets were left out near the team or if the Vols went somewhere and accessed them.

Florida linebacker Chief Borders saw the tweet and had his own response.

“You shall reap what you sow,” he tweeted.

As stated before, to the victor goes the spoils. Tennessee baseball may be able to walk the walk and talk the talk. But did the baseball team write a check that the football team can’t cash? Time will tell.
