This has been a great week thus far for Florida Gators punter Jeremy Crawshaw. Thursday, he accepted an invitation to the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl. Friday, Crawshaw was named one of 10 semifinalists for the 2024 Ray Guy Award, which goes to the country’s top punter.

Crawshaw, a senior from Australia, averages 47.08 yards per punt, good for No. 4 nationally. Eighteen of his 39 punts have ended up inside the opponents’ 20-yard-line. He was AP All-SEC Second Team last season. In Week 6 this season, he was the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week.

Per a Florida Gators release, “One way in which Crawshaw excels is the elite rate at which he lands punts inside of the opponent’s 20-yard line. He has nestled 18 of his 39 punts (46%) within the 20-yard line, establishing himself as a weapon for Florida in the field position battle. … 2024 is Crawshaw’s fifth season with Florida and fourth as the Gators starting punter. The 2023 campaign saw Crashaw set career and single season program records in career average yards per punt (46.7) and single-season yards per punt (48.9). He was named to the AP All-SEC Second-Team at the end of last season. Crashaw also earned preseason honors from CFN, Athlon Sports, Sporting News and Phil Steele.”

Jeremy Crawshaw could put his name among the punting greats

According to the official Ray Guy Award website, “The Ray Guy Award – named for football’s premier punter – honors the nation’s best collegiate punter in the FBS. The Augusta Sports Council (ASC) created the award in 2000. Along with other awards such as the Heisman Trophy and the Doak Walker Award, the Ray Guy Award honors an important member of any football team. The ASC presents the award live on The Home Depot College Football Awards broadcast on ESPN.
