Florida reeled in its 17th commitment on Wednesday evening, as four-star linebacker Jaden Robinson flipped his commitment from South Carolina.

According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Robinson ranks as the No. 379 player nationally and No. 36 linebacker in the 2023 class.

With Robinson on board, the Gators now hold commitments from 12 four-star prospects. According to the 2023 Consensus Football Team Recruiting Rankings, they now have the No. 12 recruiting class as well. They were previously ranked at 13th.

Billy Napier’s staff has the No. 4 recruiting class in the SEC as well. Fifteen prospects hail from the Sunshine State, while blue-chip defenders T.J. Searcy and Aaron Gates represent the state of Georgia.

The Gators’ class currently features eight defensive players and nine on the offensive side of the ball.

Then you have top-100 defensive linemen Kelby Collins and Kamran James who are announcing this weekend as well.

James, a top-25 prospect from Orlando, is considered a heavy Gators lean after visiting a handful of times this year. Georgia is considered UF’s top competition; however, it would be a real surprise if he did not land with the orange and blue on Sunday.

As for Collins, who is announcing on Saturday afternoon, his decision will likely come down to Florida and Alabama. No predictions have been made, but the Gators are trending right now.

Co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach, Sean Spencer, would certainly hit the jackpot if both prospects pledged to the Gators.

Robinson fills a major need in UF’s 2023 class

Given Florida’s recent linebacker recruiting struggles, Robinson is a huge addition to the 2023 class. He is the Gators’ first linebacker commit as well.

Inside linebackers coach Jay Bateman, outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson and defensive analyst Jamar Chaney played a pivotal role in tonight’s addition.

“Definitely Mike P. That was my closest relationship when he was at South Carolina. I talked to him a lot. He was from around the area and we connected from there,” Robinson told GO earlier this year when asked about his relationship with UF.

Texas A&M, Michigan, Kentucky, LSU, Notre Dame and Tennessee are some additional schools that previously offered Robinson.
