The NCAA-mandated “dead period,” which prohibits in-person recruiting during the month of February, will come to an end next week. And Mike Norvell and his Florida State football staff will look to hit the ground running as soon as those restrictions are lifted.

On Tuesday, there were several developments with Florida State recruiting, including new offers, strong interest elicited from a top prospect, and more.

Perhaps the most significant news of the day was four-star Georgia receiver Zion Ragins announcing his top 12 schools and including the Seminoles in that list. Other programs among his favorites are Georgia, Oklahoma, Penn State, Notre Dame, Tennessee and several more.

Ragins is the No. 71 prospect in the nation and the No. 12 wide receiver, according to the On3 Consensus.

Here is more from On3’s Chad Simmons on Ragins’ recruitment.

Also on Tuesday, Florida State extended an offer to four-star New York athlete Josiah Brown. According to On3, Brown is the No. 1 prospect in the state of New York, the No. 5 athlete in the nation and the No. 50 prospect overall.

Florida State also offered Texas offensive tackle Ory Williams on Tuesday. The 6-foot-6, 310-pounder announced the offer on Twitter.

Earlier this week, on Monday, Simmons also reported that Florida State is in very good shape with four-star Miami defensive end Booker Pickett.
