Branson Robinson's encore and more on The Georgia Show

I think it’s safe to say that Branson Robinson’s emergence is the talk of Georgia football right now. Georgia needed a refreshing story like this.

For the last few weeks, it’s been doom and gloom and ‘what’s wrong with Stetson Bennett?’ on any given week.

We previewed Georgia’s matchup vs Vanderbilt on The Georgia Show, and spent a Darnell Washington-sized chunk of that time discussing the Dawgs’ encouraging developments in the running back room.

And if you’ve been keeping up with Georgia’s offense this season, you know that’s refreshing, too.

Robinson and Daijun Edwards rocked Auburn last week

The question now: Can Georgia keep that production going vs Vanderbilt?

Senior editor Jake Rowe and Palmer Thombs answered my question with a very promising, ‘They should.’ And it isn’t just Edwards and Robinson, of course.

Kenny McIntosh factors in, just in a non-traditional, harder-to-define kind of way.

We don’t know what to expect from Kendall Milton from week to week. He’s dealing with a groin injury after getting banged up against Auburn.

But the big picture of this Georgia running back room is taking shape. And it includes a big Dawg at running back.

After years of consistency from the rotation of Zamir White and James Cook, the Dawgs’ backfield identity needed a few games to pick up steam.

Auburn’s defense didn’t hurt, either. But it seems like RBU could be finding its footing once again. Jake Rowe used an analogy that I really appreciated. Or is it a metaphor?

Whatever it is, Rowe said that Georgia’s backfield is now locking in like a zipper, and falling into line right at the midway point of the year.

Even if Branson Robinson wasn’t the most talented running back at the start of fall camp, he’s the hero Georgia needs right now. And Georgia will be happy to let him dish out some more pain vs Vanderbilt this weekend.

If Stetson Bennett’s body is hurting a bit after some early season offensive growing pains, Todd Monken is finding ways to emphasize other parts of this Dawgs offense.

It can’t always just be Brock Bowers and The Big ‘0.’ If A.D. Mitchell and Arian Smith still aren’t 100%, there’s no better time for the running backs to figure it out than right now.
