The second set of College Football Playoff rankings for the 2025 season are out, and Georgia did not move. The Bulldogs are still ranked No. 5. The Big10 holds each of the top spots with Ohio State at No. 1 and Indiana at No. 2. The SEC holds the next three spots with Texas A&M at No. 3 and Alabama at No. 4.

The Bulldogs are coming off their eighth win of the season, a 41-21 defeat of Mississippi State in Starkville. Georgia led 24-7 at the half and then 38-7 in the fourth quarter before coasting to victory.

Two remaining Georgia opponents, Texas and Georgia Tech, are inside the top 25. Texas is No. 10 and Georgia Tech is up one spot to No. 16.

Georgia started the season with three straight wins over Marshall, Austin Peay, and Tennessee. The Bulldogs needed overtime in that SEC opener vs. the Volunteers, currently ranked ranked No. 23. UGA tied the game at 38 in regulation with a fourth-down touchdown connection between Gunner Stockton and London Humphreys to make it 38-36. Stockton then found Zachariah Branch for the two-point conversion to even things up. The Bulldogs won the game by holding Tennessee to a field goal and scoring a touchdown in the first overtime series.

After its first bye week of the season, Georgia dropped its only game thus far. Alabama came into Sanford Stadium and beat the Bulldogs 24-21 as the home team squandered a couple of plate opportunities.

Since then, Georgia has reeled off four straight victories against SEC foes. It got back on track with a comfortable 35-14 win over Kentucky where the Bulldogs led 35-7 entering the fourth quarter before emptying the bench.

Next the Bulldogs traveled to Auburn and trailed 10-0 before scoring 20 unanswered points to take down the Tigers for the ninth straight time. The Bulldogs forced a fumble inches from their own goal line to start the rally.

Kirby Smart and company returned to Athens the next week to take on Ole Miss, which fell one spot to No. 7. The Rebels scored touchdowns on their first five possessions, but Stockton helped Georgia keep pace. When the Bulldog defense got a couple of stops in the fourth quarter, the offense responded with a pair of touchdowns and a field goal to win 43-35.

UGA followed that up with a trip to Jacksonville and left with its fifth straight win over Florida. Once again, it required fourth-quarter heroics with Chauncey Bowens ripping off a 36-yard touchdown run to put Georgia on top with 4:36 to go. The defense responded with a four and out, allowing the offense to milk the final three minutes and 13 seconds off the clock.

Next up is a matchup with the Longhorns inside Sanford Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC) and Georgia is currently a six-point favorite.
