A pair of Georgia Baseball players were recognized for their outstanding performance in the past week. Connor Tate took home Co-SEC Player of the Week as well as National Player of the Week from Collegiate Baseball while Charlie Condon was named SEC Freshman of the Week after sharing SEC Player of the Week honors on February 27th.

Furthermore, it’s the second time this season that a Bulldog has earned National Player of the Week on the heels of Liam Sullivan being named National Pitcher of the Week along with SEC Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 27. That week Sullivan threw seven hitless innings in a Georgia win over Princeton.

The two big bats in the heart of Georgia’s lineup are off to red hot starts at the plate this spring. Hitting team-high batting averages at .517 (Condon) and .516 (Tate), the duo has combined for 54 RBI, 13 home runs and 26 extra base hits.

Tate hit a school record three home runs in Saturday’s 15-0 victory against Charleston Southern. On the week he hit .600 (12-for-2) with nine runs scored, two doubles, four home runs, five walks and 10 RBI, tallying an SEC best 26 total bases while extending his hit streak to a career-best 21 games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Condon recorded seven runs scored, a triple, three home runs and 12 RBI in five starts last week helping Georgia to a 4-1 record with a pair of wins over Georgia Southern and Charleston Southern each. He too has a lengthy hit streak of 15 games and leads the nation with his 32 RBI and the SEC with his .517 average on the year.

The Bulldogs, 12-4 on the season, are back in action on Tuesday with Wofford coming to town. The Terriers are 14-1 and one of the best mid-major teams in the country. All time, Georgia leads the series against Wofford 11-0 including a pair of wins last year. First pitch of the midweek contest is set for 5:00 p.m. ET on SEC Network+ before Georgia begins SEC play this weekend with South Carolina (16-1) making its way to Foley Field.
