Georgia, for the first time since 2009, has two commitments headed to the nation’s premiere quarterback camp — Elite 11. Dylan Raiola and Ryan Puglisi both made the cut and they will go out to Los Angeles and spend three days getting better while also getting evaluated.

On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power will be out there and in a recent interview with Josh Newberg, expressed excitement over getting to see Raiola in person. He’s especially intrigued when it comes to seeing Raiola compete side-by-side with the other top prospects in the country.

“I think first of all it’s going to be an opportunity to see Dylan Raiola in person,” Power said. “Where’s he at from a size, body perspective? I think comparing with him this group, I think it’ll be really fun to see how he stacks up from an arm-talent perspective. Is Dylan Raiola truly the top arm talent, passing talent in the 2024 cycle?

“Also looking forward to seeing just how he moves around. Now this is a setting — I think it’s really important to understand the context of what we get to see at the Elite11 — it’s mainly stationary. We don’t get to see a lot of movement. There’s not a pass rush but I do want to see kind of how he moves around within the drills.

“Ultimately I think the story of Dylan Raiola is going to be written this fall. Just seeing how he plays as a senior. Did not have the junior season that you’d hope for from a number one overall type of quarterback prospect, so I think that’s going to be the ultimate determining factor on where he stacks up in the rankings. But I think we’re looking forward to seeing how he stacks up within this group from a pure passing talent perspective.”

Raiola, the nation’s No. 1 prospect per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that includes the ratings from three other recruiting coverage websites, committed to Georgia earlier this month. He de-committed from Ohio State late last football season and eschewed the opportunity to play for Lincoln Riley at USC and Matt Rhule at Nebraska, his father’s alma mater.

He’s the son of Dominic Raiola, who won a Remington Award with the Cornhuskers and became a second-round pick of the Detroit Lions. Raiola played 14 years in the NFL and snapped the football to former Georgia quarterback and No. 1 overall pick Matthew Stafford.
