One of Georgia’s top targets and biggest needs in the Class of 2023 has confirmed he’ll be among a star-studded cast of recruits on campus this weekend for his official visit. UCLA commit Roderick Robinson, a four-star running back, announced the visit on Twitter.

Ranked as the nation’s No. 246 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus, Robinson is also the nation’s No. 14 overall running back and No. 17 player in California for the senior class.

The 6-foot-1, 238-pound Robinson committed to the Bruins in late May, though Georgia was among the schools in consideration. Auburn, Cal, Tennessee, Arizona, and Oregon were in his final top six.

Georgia did not relent, however, and in fact, the Dawgs increased their pursuit on the back of the news.

Since that time, wind how blown around Georgia’s chances having increased, and Texas A&M appears to be another school that has worked its way into Robinson’s top considerations despite the commitment.

A senior out of San Diego, California’s Lincoln High, Robinson has put together one of the nation’s most impressive performances of the 2022 season.

Robinson rushed for 476 yards on 32 carries and found the end zone eight times as San Diego Lincoln won the game 56-20.

Roderick Robinson on his pledge to UCLA

UCLA won’t let Robinson, its’ top commit in 2023, go without a fight, however, and he’s previously mentioned that a big part of his commitment lies in the leadership in place in Los Angeles.

“I believe in Coach [Chip] Kelly,” Robinson told On3’s Chad Simmons upon committing to the Bruins. “He has been there. He has done that. UCLA is on the rise and we will win a Rose Bowl soon. The mindset of the players is changing, the work ethic is there, and coach Kelly is getting his players there. Big things are coming at UCLA.”

The decision was not easy for Robinson. Numerous schools gave him a lot to think about. He took the time he felt he needed and it became clear that UCLA was the school for him.

“The combination of everything UCLA has to offer makes it right for me,” Robinson said. “I have a great relationship with coach Foster and coach Kelly. I love how the coaches set the players up for success.

“It is not just success on the field, but off the field too. The academics are great and UCLA is in L.A., a great place to promote your name. There is a lot I like about the school on and off the field.”
