The Dawgs didn’t wait until signing day to get the fireworks popping, pulling off a flip of On3-ranked four-star offensive lineman Drew Bobo from the Auburn Tigers on Monday evening.

Bobo ranks as the No. 291 overall player according to On3 and the No. 661 overall player according to the On3 Consensus. He is Georgia’s 25th commitment for the 2022 cycle.

Of course, most Georgia fans are well versed in the Bobo name, given that Drew’s father, Mike, led the Bulldogs as a highly successful quarterback in the mid-1990s. He followed that up with a fourteen-year stint on the staff as quarterbacks coach and eventually a long tenure as offensive coordinator under Mark Richt before moving on.

Drew, however, was initially set to follow his father to Georgia’s cross-division rival Auburn, where Mike had been serving as offensive coordinator under Bryan Harsin in his first year.

Bobo played his senior season at Auburn High School, as well, having transferred from Columbia, South Carolina’s Hammond School.

In the campaign, he largely served as the left tackle for the Tigers and helped take the team to a semifinal appearance in the Alabama high school playoffs.

Dawgs heading into Early Signing Day with eyes on several

The early signing period is just two days away, and there’s plenty of action for Georgia fans to be monitoring in the lead-up.

Turning the page to tomorrow the Bulldogs will wait on word from four-star wideout Chandler Smith, who’s coming off of his official visit this past weekend.

He’s set to announce his decision at 12 PM ET.

On Wednesday, there will be a great deal of action to watch from the likes of Kamari Wilson to Earnest Greene.

Current class standing with Drew Bobo aboard

Georgia currently sits at No. 3 in the On3 team rankings for the Class of 2022, trailing the Crimson Tide of Alabama and the Aggies of Texas A&M as of today.

The Bulldogs will vie for the title until February, with a number of top prospects still available. Wednesday, however, may be what tells the tale for how it all shapes up as many of the top names will come off of the board.

The Bulldogs will also continue to work the transfer portal beyond Wednesday.
